More information

More information

The Franzensfeste Fortress warmly welcomes all visitors.

Mobility & grounds
Parts of the fortress are accessible by wheelchair or walker. Lifts facilitate access to several levels. Some areas are not completely barrier-free due to the historical construction. The grounds consist partly of gravel paths, which can make it difficult to get around with a wheelchair or pram. Disabled parking spaces are located directly in front of the entrance. We recommend that families with small children use baby carriers instead of pushchairs.

Visiting with dogs
Dogs are welcome on the grounds of the Franzensfeste fortress. Please keep your dog on a leash and be considerate of other visitors.

Barrier-free infrastructure
Barrier-free toilets and ‘third toilets’ (gender-neutral and spacious) are available. There are numerous seating areas along the tour route where you can rest.

Digital support
A free audio guide is available to download to your smartphone and accompanies you flexibly through the fortress. We recommend bringing your own headphones.

Advice & support
Our team will be happy to help you plan your visit and is available to answer any questions you may have about accessibility.
