The Franzensfeste Fortress is part of the ‘Schule schaut Museum’ initiative and opens its doors to school classes who want to experience history up close.

As part of the programme, we offer the ‘Treasure Hunt’ and ‘Time Travel in Stone’ formats:

Treasure hunt – pupils embark on an exciting journey of discovery through the fortress and explore the hidden secrets of Franzensfeste Fortress.

Time travel in stone – Franzensfeste Fortress tells its story through its walls: from its construction in the 19th century to its current use as a cultural centre. Pupils discover the significance of the building, its role in the historical context and how stone can be read as evidence of the past.
School classes are invited to explore the Franzensfeste and ‘grasp’ history in the truest sense of the word.
